The meaning behind the Hammam bathing ritual and going from hot to cold environments relates back to the beginning of spa culture: the Greeks practice of cold water bathing to Persian steam baths to Hebrew ritual purification.
The benefits of the process include increased circulation, improved balance and mental and emotional states strengthening the immune system, and flushing toxins.
You will begin your experience in our warming room, which is set at 98 degrees, the body’s temperature. The tile benches are warmed and ergonomically correct for the human body, so when you sit down, you immediately relieve pressure points.
Next you move to our scrub room, a beautiful tile room where on a 150 year rosewood bed, you will receive a black soap/kassa glove scrub—very quick and traditional.
Once rinsed from your scrub you will begin the hot and cold ritual, which consists of 5-10 minutes in our steam room then to a cold deluge, moving on to 5-10 minutes in our whirlpool and then 5-10 minutes in the sauna. The ritual ends with a second cold deluge.
